For the administrative offices of Smoky Mountain Center, the Medicaid provider for 23 counties in Western North Carolina,  the staff wanted to highlight the talents of some of the special needs groups they serve.  Henceforth the halls and conference rooms were decorated with curated, custom framed artwork by a range of artists. Douglas Lail is the creator of the 'Hello My Name Is' traveling exhibition (hmni.org). Eight of these portraits with their corresponding stories create a gallery of recovery down the main hall. Also represented are three artists from The Enola Group in Morganton, NC (enolagroup.org), which services adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Among the three artists is the acclaimed naive artist Harold Crowell.  The outcome of this endeavor is an administrative workspace imbued with purpose, insight, and beauty.
